DESPITE THE FACT SHE was with Foster Slade, Lori Freeman was not having a good time. Mostly because her annoying stepbrother, Gilbert, had insisted on coming along. Although Gilbert would never admit he was gay, Lori was certain he wanted Foster even more than she did. Since she’d been relegated to sitting in the backseat, and Gilbert was looking smug as Foster’s chosen passenger, she was wondering if just maybe their dumb bromance had turned into something else when she wasn’t looking.

I’m so over this night, Lori thought. And this ridiculous place. Hazel Hills can suck it.

Bored, Lori reached into her purse, pulled out a tube of supermarket lip gloss, and reapplied. Listening to the two Neanderthals sitting in front of her grunting and howling, communicating in their own secret caveman language was irritating her beyond reason.

I should’ve stayed home. And here I was planning to let Foster do whatever he wanted to me. Fat chance now, buddy.

Lori was an attractive young woman, and she knew it. She was taller than most of her female classmates at Hazel Hills High, something the members of the Varsity basketball team really liked. Despite the incessant advances, Lori had decided a year ago to devote all her desire to Foster. Yet, the competition for his affection was insane. Even if he did love blondes, which is how her whole stupid crush on him started.

Lori’s long blonde hair was her best feature. She used this to her advantage every chance she got. Like she’d done tonight, she often adorned her almost-platinum mane with a single sparkly barrette, keeping her bangs swept away from her dull brown eyes.

It was her hair that Foster noticed. Holding the door to the school auditorium open for her on a day last year that she knew she’d never forget, Foster grinned at her and the world suddenly didn’t seem so awful.

“I really like your hair,” he whispered as she passed.

“Thank you,” she stammered, caught off guard by the sweet smell of yummy Foster and the sensual tone in his soothing voice. He had the air of a lead singer of a band. “I like yours, too.”

Aside from constantly wearing a pair of black and white sunglasses, Foster was known for his James Dean pompadour, adding to his mysterious pseudo bad boy persona. That and the hot rumor that he was able to bring any girl to orgasm within two minutes.

“Wanna hang out sometime?” he’d asked as they entered the auditorium to attend a mandatory school lecture on the dangerous consequences of underage drinking.

Trying to maintain her cool composure, Lori had replied with a noncommittal shrug and simply said, “Sure.”

“Cool,” he said. “I’ll get your number from Gilbert.”

Despite the many months Lori waited for Foster to call, he never did. Finally, she took matters into her own hands, knowing if he was going to be the first guy she was going to sleep with, she needed to get his attention once and for all.
